REVIEW OF TAX CODE APPROVED IN NICARAGUA.

On October 28th of this year, the Tax Code of the Republic of Nicaragua was unanimously approved by the National Assembly after 10 years of attempts and discussions of various propositions that would regulate tax payers and collection agencies. The process terminated with the compilation of a single legal body of the country’s tax regulations, regulations which were previously governed by a scattered legislation. ELECTRONIC SECURITY IN CUSTOMS IN COSTA RICA.

Resolution DGA 615 establishes the use of electronic security in different customs agencies in Costa Rica:

  • Santamaría and Caldera Customs Office, as of 11 – 01 – 2005
  • Limon Customs Office, as of 12 – 1 – 2005
  • Paso Canoas and Peñas Blancas Customs Office, as of 01-01-2006

MODIFICATION OF GENERAL LAW OF CUSTOMS IN COSTA RICA.

On October 25th, a modification to article 86 of the General Law of Customs was published in La Gaceta Nº 205, regarding the customs declaration which must be accompanied by:

1. Original commercial invoice. 2. certificate of origin of merchandise where necessary. 3. bill of lading. 4. copy of the customs declaration of exported merchandise, issued by the exporter or shipper with the real value of the merchandise, name of the importer, gross and net weight and number of the container where necessary. This last requirement is only necessary in the case of merchandise with a value greater than $2.000.

PARTICIPATION “FORUM ON AIR AND SPACE LAW (ANNUAL MEETING CONFERENCE)”.

From September 29th to October 1st, Tomas Nassar, Alina Nassar and Ariana Macaya participated in the above mentioned forum, in Montreal, Canada. This event was organized by the American Bar Association and McGill University.
